And why do we fall, Bruce?

I figured out my problems: if I can't find a job, I must create it.
I'm going to create a game to sale (just as Kyrieru did). This will also keep my mind busy and not thinking in other issues.

I'm planning another game, not so ambitious. It will probably have those features:
- Flash programmed (for vectorial graphics better than pixel-art).
- 2D arcade: Mostly Nanocrisis-like. Engine adaptable to 2D platform games, for a side project in a future.
- GOR.
- Clothes damage.
- Multilingual (at least English/Japanese/Spanish, maybe Russian/Italian/French)
- A few RPG elements with talent tree.

I think I could do something like Fighting Yuna or Shinobi Girl.
If I could get as much sales as Fighting Yuna, it will be a success, and I could work as full-time H-game programer.

As soon as my idea take form, I'll start working in the first demo. Also, in order to not disapoint my fans, I'll surelly do most of the game for free, and an extra version (with only a few features) to sale.

    1. BTW... you still have the option of donation for extra cash. You wouldn't believe how many people would pay a few bucks just you would not disappear from the scene.

  3. make it app-able so you can have multi-platform useage on droids and iphones... it should help with sales although you may need to learn how to make it compatible. 2-3 bucks per app purchase will bring in some major cash!

      Also, the games I want to do won't be easy to play in a mobile phone. I've tried some action games in my smart-phone and controls are really crappy.

      I've planned this as something to do while I find a job. I'm not going to create a great game, just something a bit better than most of the H-games I know. As you said, something "decent enough".

      But definitely, nothing as ambitious as Sex Realm.

  8. I think you should put up a donation link for this game. I've seen some other games with similar sized following ("Cursed" comes to mind) that have robust donations. Certainly something to help keep you focused and a couple hundred dollars a week can't hurt either.

      My biggest regret when I left this project was for those people that paid for an unfinished game. And I don't want this happen again.

  11. Вариант с донатом, как писали выше, вполне неплохая идея. Если же делать игру полностью платной - я не думаю что сможете потянуть такую работу. Отладка ошибок, своевременный выпуск обновлений и отслеживание за спросом и отслеживание чего не хватает игре - трудоемкий процесс. Думаю работа над проектом не должна мешать поиску нормальной работы так же как и заработок только лишь за счет игры не должен быть целью.
    главное не сдавайся, ищи работу и ты ее найдешь.

    tenes una mente muy ambiciosa y perfeccionista realmente me gusto tu juego y creo que con esas ideas y ese esfuerzo que pusiste vas a poder hacer de tu arte tu trabajo. generalmente no compro juegos y menos de esta categoria pero si puedo ayudar con al menos una compra lo voy a hacer

    I started following his blog (thanks to you) and I bought the game in the end! So if you make a great-quality $5 game, I'll sure as hell buy it.

  16. Hey, if you make a game as good as Kurovadis, for 5 bucks, I would totally buy it. Just keep your goals modest and polished, and don't let scope creep happen. =)

    It's really interesting what Kyrieru did though. He did what valve was supposed to do (with the episodes) but didn't; He created a second tier of games that are short, can be produced relatively quickly and cheaply, but is very high quality. Most H-games are 30 bucks. Most AAA games are 60. That's like saying all cars in the world should be a single price. But it's not like that; you can get a BMW for 40k or a honda for 20k or even a used car for 1000 bucks. In the same way, Kyrieru created that '1k car', that drives quite solidly and is totally cheap enough that a lot of people will buy it. Maybe that's why his game has 2.5 times as many buyers as say Fighting Yuna. Wow!

    1. Kyrieru is an exceptional game creator. He can program, do the pixel art and compose the music with a great quality. His level design is awesome.

      I can't work as so high level, so I'm trying a no-so-high goal.

    2. Everyone has their own talents. I think everyone was really impressed by your learning engine, displayed by the roaches. =)

      And you certainly have experience building stricter RPGs (equipment, buying stuff, npc's, free-roam, etc...). My point is, if you maintain Kyrieru's pricing model, and you have a little bit of hype, which you do considering how many followers you have, I think you can really target another hole in the market. =)

      Okay, Kyrieru targeted the metroidvania brothers market. I think you are ready to target a free-roam, RPG market. Just don't make it a bland RPG Maker Game #6592, haha. Actually, even RPG Maker games can come out to be really interesting. Do you remember the X-men brothel game? It was only up for days (before copyright shut it down), but it was totally eaten up in the English market. It did have an interesting story/content/dialog. Maybe try something similar?

      My last point is, go with a modest goal. Honestly, all projects I've seen collapse, usually do because of over ambitious goals, or scope creep. I think, smaller maps, simpler engines, but more and more story/encounters is a better plan. If you can make it 5 bucks, I think a lot of people will say, "Hey, I can buy a pint at the bar, or I can just buy this game. This game lasts longer than a pint, so I'll buy it!" I think a lot of Americans and Europeans are hungering for good quality games with Hentai (not the other way around), that are in English, and have a decent play-time or replay value. I mean...if a completed Violated Heroine style game released all in SOLID English, could you imagine how well it would sell? =)

      If you want to see other really successful Japanese RPGs where the player plays a female character who is forced into compromising situations against her will, check out:

      1. Sankegi no Gear (閃撃のギア)
      2. Breath of Fire & Steel (火と鉄のブレス)
      3. Siren's harp (セイレンの竪琴)
      4. Saki Que (サキクエ)
      5. Twin Sisters (フタクエ~とある姉妹の物語~)
      6. Anna's Quest (アニクエ)

      All of those games are made in RPG Maker, but they're recognized for having a lot of gameplay and free roaming. But, they are also distinguished for having a lot of power-play. A LOT of the story sex, including loss of virginity, occurs against the players/character's will, but that's what makes it really exciting. And it's really drawn out. It's not a simple sex romp; there's a lot of tension in the air. In some of those games the player is forced to eventually lose her virginity to someone she really doesn't like (raped?). Furthermore, she/the player, throughout the game, makes the decision to keep seeing him (or is forced to because of her job). This opens her up to become more promiscuous with others as well. In other games, the player is forced to have sex with older men, who (unwittingly?) train her in combat/game-play skills through enough fucking. You should try it out; These games are a lot like your game. Free roam after some initial prologue, clothing, images reflecting clothing, stats tracking (like how many times had sex, came inside, lust, etc...).

      All of these games sold around 3000 on DLSite, and their developers have been successful enough to make 2 sequels, each. But, they aren't ported into English, so English speaking customers don't buy them. Your game won't have that problem!

    3. Oh, one more note, Kyrieru's music and images were really good. But all in all, he had 3 really memorable tracks and around 11 cgi images. The rest of the sexual content were small sprites, that are nonetheless very exciting. Not because the sprites look sexy, but because of the implied content; that she was held defenseless against her will and raped by various different enemies, yet had to go on to complete her mission (despite the possibility of getting raped again). This kind of power-play can be very erotic, even when written as plain text. A Dance with Rogues - an extremely popular H-mod for Neverwinter Nights - had around 60,000 downloads, and eventually a sequel. It only uses text and blackouts. If you can harness that power play dynamic, I think that's what will really make a game, as opposed to a sex romp.

    4. Anyway, those are just food for thought. I know you want to stick to the Shinobi Girl style of gameplay, and that certainly has it's own market as well. If you're going to mix it with RPG/Skill Tree elements, that's going to be pretty sophisticated, IMO. There was a Resident Evil based Hgame that aspired to do that as well, but it kind of fell out of the radar. But, with a financial motivation, I'm think you can pull it off!

      And, I always wanted to get/buy a fully developed version of Nanocrisis. I just hope you implement the stat tracking that was Nanocrisis! =D

      Finally, having a Japanese language port will definitely be clutch in getting extra revenue! Which means, the less text, the easier and faster it will be. =)
