I'm adding new quests and enemies for the next big release. But I prefer to offer to you guys a complete new area with new quests and enemies. I mean, I don't want to publish small releases with 1 or 2 new quests each time: that would make you try once again the same game in order to play the new content.
So, I don't want to make you download a new update just to find a new tree and a new enemy only.
But I prefer to ask to you all. Do you prefer to wait a couple of months (maybe 3) to the next big release or having small minireleases?
i can wait 3 months no prob. just hope its worth the wait
ReplyDeleteby "SS"
ReplyDeleteWell 3 months its a quiet a big time as you know.I think you can release a small updates ,and "WE" can help you with more ideas or finding bugs.
I am favor to make 1 time but perfect ,but as this is a great game, its possible to make this game more costume as possible,we dont know what ideas we can find out.
I agree that 3 months is not too long at all given that we are not paying you for this. That said, I do think a mini-release would be beneficial to you as we could give you more insight on your new area and enemies than a few pics would allow for as far as finding gliches and things like that. All in all this has been one of my favorites and I am positive that if you do decide to make us wait the 3 months it will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work! You have a lot of fans, and Thanks!
Well noone forces you to play every small releases (personnaly, i don't), so the real question is how much time does wrapping up a small playable update take away from actual development time.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that, for the momment I have a part of the new zone, a new quest and the explanation of everything by the mage.
DeleteAbout the time I spend uploading the current version, it's like 5 minutes or less.
xD
a couple of months
ReplyDeleteespecially if we have to start a new game
You'll surelly have to. There are some new variables that triggers when you open the metal chest.
DeleteSo they haven't triggered if your current saved games.
Not actually related but I'm not sure what thread would be right so I took the first one. Are you supposed to be able to get a game over from the slime boss? I did, I think it was because I was too far away (hit by projectile from across the screen). Also I have gotten a corrupted save (trying to load returns you to the main screen).
ReplyDeleteI've had the same problem with saves
DeleteAs you pointed, if you are too far from the slime boss, you can get a game over.
DeleteAbout the corrupted saved games, I need more clues to know what's happening. I don't have any problem with saves, so I can't figure why it happens.
I prefer multiple smaller releases, so the game can be stress-tested and bugs found through lots of users going at it. That, rather than having 3 months worth of updates, and an equally massive amount of feedback for you to sort through. Plus, it's more likely that we'd miss bugs and problems with a larger amount of new features.
ReplyDeleteWell, I always try to release versions with as less bugs as possible.
DeletexD
whatever is best for you, nobody is going to stop following the project just because it takes a while to update, promise you when the update comes so will all the people
ReplyDeletejust don't get stressed out trying to live up to expectations, keep having fun making the game and it will come out beautifully
good luck :)
maybe publish in bigger steps so we can see the results, but not everything at once ;)
ReplyDelete3 months is whatever really i prefer to get one big release that will satisfy me for 30 minutes to an hour instead spending 10 minutes and then 2 minutes doing what the fuck ever, I'm tired of spending all my time in the same place. Just fucking take your time and get shit done in 3 months or whatever you'll put something out thats worth looking at instead of a bunch of little cock teases.
ReplyDeleteNo one is forcing you to play the game.
DeletePlus, Hnyarly is offering this for free and spending a lot of time on it so at least show a bit more respect for his work?
A bunch of small releases would be more benefical to you though. As stated by anon a few posts back, smaller releases would let us give you feedback and bugs at smaller intervals instead of having 3 months worth of bugs hit all on you at once.
ReplyDeleteI can wait three months, but it might not be so well for the game, in the mini releases you can get feedback on what does or does not work in the game.
ReplyDeleteMechanics are not going to change for the big release. Maybe adding a new weapon or some clothes, but nothing really different (such as a new rune).
DeleteAnd enemies won't have really unbalanced skills.
To be honest we all love the game and will wait just remember unless therewith a new H scene most people won't care if theres an update. Sad but true. So take your time and do it right. Love it so far.
ReplyDeleteThat really makes sense.
DeletexD
You should do what your most comfortable with. At the end of the day, all of your fans will wait patiently for the releases wether they are big or small. Do what fits in best with your life and schedule. As for me, I can wait three months with no problem. I've been waiting on the babysitting cream game for way longer. :)
ReplyDeletetake your time just dont quit on us, thats all i ask XD
ReplyDeleteI think maybe do a small release now and then wait for a bigger release latter.
ReplyDeleteDo a big and tasty realease, and the small releases should just die. But the key lingers in the posts. Meaning, you just have to make the complete release in the needed time, but not forget to put some screens and teasers so the fans go crazy and want to play the game more and more. Small releases just make it boring in the long road.
ReplyDeleteAnd remember, three months are nothing compared to other games. So go for it, pal!
Big release, so you can take it easy and do it better. Also instead of make little releases you can put screenshots or similar, like now. A lot of people love the game and your work so, I think, we can wait :)!!!
ReplyDeleteokay after thinking it it would be good if you consider something has to be tested to put a download, otherwise just let it be till the big update
ReplyDeleteIf the mini release is a fix to the game release it, other then that build up to a big amazing release! And for the love of all things amazing, don't quit making this awesome game!
ReplyDeleteSmall releases peppered in between the milestone big ones give us something to chew so we don't get lose interest, sure; but you also get feedback about flaws that you can catch earlier (thus saving time in the big picture). It doesn't have to be polished work for the small ones, better to use your fan base as the testers, not EVERYONE will want to try out minor tweaks, but many of us will jump at any little scrap that comes our way. It may take more effort to produce the smaller releases too, but the reward of feedback and growing (and maintaining) your fan-base should out-way the cost.
ReplyDeleteHi HYN.
ReplyDeleteI´d like small and more frequent releases. This is one of the reasons for us (I say it by myself) to keep following your blog. To see what youre doing, checking for bugs, helping you and having fun with your game.
But keep in mind there is no obligation of frequency to release new versions nor to everytime you design a tree or a bush, but as long as you fell you may do it.
Whereaver your decision, I´ll respect.
Saludos, BrasGuy
I'd prefer small updates about every month by reasons listed above. And that's easier to see a progress, people like progress.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem waiting. Even though I don't comment a lot here, I do follow it every day. However, I didn't bother downloading the series of mini-updates until the very last one, and that was after it was up for about a week or so. I do see the 'catch the bugs' reason people have above for the mini-updates, but you CAN have a series of bug-fix releases after the big one. I've followed programs that have MUCH slower visible progress than your game.
ReplyDeletei vote fore the big updates.
ReplyDeleteWait for the big update; your reasoning is excellent. Why would I want to download and re-download the game every other day (or three) to see one or two slightly different things, when I can wait and get a BIG difference?
ReplyDeleteI can wait, Any anal scenes in the future?
ReplyDeleteNot in a near future, I think.
DeleteBig fan of the game.
ReplyDeleteFor the releases, why not do both. Have the very latest version available for those that want to help test the game and have the last stable release available for those that just want to play. Label them clearly on the download screen and everyone can get the version they want. It's a win-win.
Monthly updates maybe? So considerable chunks but allows some testing too.
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on what exactly is in the intended release, IMO. If it's something gameplay related (especially if it has the potential to change the way people actually play the game), it should be released as soon as it's done, regardless of other features. That way, people can start telling you about any bugs / flaws / balance issues it introduces as soon as possible, so you don't end up building large parts of the game's mechanics on something fundamentally flawed (I've seen this exact problem completely ruin flash games before; it'd be a massive shame for it to happen to this one too).
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if the new thing is only a piece of scenery or a new enemy that's little different to all the existing ones, I'd wait until I've made a lot of them if I were you. It's kinda disappointing to see a "new" version out here, only to find out that the new bits are superficial to the point of nonexistant.
I suppose it all comes down to significance. If any individual new feature of the game has a chance of significantly changing how you play it, then it's worth a new release. If not, wait until the new features pile up until you've got enough minor things to make a major difference.
Well, regardless all this, a new miniupdate is highly required right now. Thanks to an anonymous report in a previous post, I've found (and fixed) a really annoying bug: the corrupted saved files.
ReplyDeleteSo, tomorrow you all have this miniupdate. Give your thanks to that anonymous hero.
xD
PS. With that fix, you'll be able to load your old corrupted files.
Heh, I did mention bug-fixes as a reason to release between big releases. :P
DeleteGlad you found it.
Big release. If you release a new version with like one more thing I wont play it, I wont see the point.
ReplyDeleteХоть и придется ждать больше, но я думаю лучше сделать один полноценный релиз, чем добавлять по мелочи.
ReplyDeleteAmazing game - wanna more artifacts, and sex scenes with elves? werewolfs and orcs.
ReplyDeletea solution to this would be to give the fans something to keep them busy for that amount of time if possible, maybe high level triggered events or more customizable appearance and many new things and ppl to interact with and changing dialogue. and more hidden items.
