Help!

I need your help with this new enemy. Can you guys please comment how I could improve the look of this new enemy? I want to finish it before starting to animate it...

As a side note, it won't be a raper enemy, and it can't be knocked untill it looses all its health points... so kicks are not a good way to defeat it.

PS. It's supposed to be a bear...

    1. It is possible when a bear will complete then bar will progress.

    2. When I finish the bear, the bar will raise to 10%.

  2. Is realistic to draw a bear, of course, very difficult (however, at game style unrealistic, so it not a problem). But there are small specifications which can make it slightly better.
    1) Eyes. Only one bear has such eyes, but him girls interest is younger if you understand, about what I.
    2) Bear's body are slightly longer. Also, it's body is a little bent, as if it something pressed down.
    3) Ears have to stick out a little in the sides.

Here, for the example, the quite good picture with a bear. Side view, in movement.

And about impossibility knock back it, it specified specially for me, because of my love to kill all in foot blow from a turn, how Chuck Norris? :)

MosKit; sorry for possible problems with reading, i tried.

  4. So let me fist off say I and my dick love that outfit for Beth :D As for the bear if you want him as an enemy id say he needs to look scarier try giving him some teeth and maybe an angry eyebrow, cause right now I just wanna hung that cute lil bastard, otherwise Id say he look great. Keep up the the good work It's good to have you regularly updating again even if it just small stuff like this.

    1. I prefer an unexpressive face for the bear... it seems more scary, I think.

About the way she's dressed, it's implemented in the game. It's not a dress, it's just a yoga pants with Nanako's gloves, and the new sandals.

  5. Shorter legs, fatter backside, stubby little tail, realistic looking joints..

    ReplyDelete
  6. make it less round perhaps. for example make the head and body more wolf like and the paws/legs a bit skinnier at the top

    ReplyDelete
  7. You may want to raise where the legs connect to the body just slightly. The back is just about right, but there's a little too much space for the front shoulders. If you want to go for realism, the amount of back above the front shoulders should be roughly the same as half of the width of the arms at the widest point. If you make that change and lower the head a bit to fit the new body lines it should look a lot better.

  8. Many great suggestions so far. Might I also suggest making the head connect to the body more by having the neck slope upwards into the broad shoulders of the bear? (From a purely side view, it looks akin to a muscular hump on the back of the bear at the same level as his front legs.) From there, the back can slope a little and curve upwards slightly into its rump.

There is another approach that you can take as well. That would be to make it look more cartoony and have its head at the top of the model with its nose pointing outwards with a thick neck that basically forms into its shoulders then down a simple slope to its rump.

Either way, these updates make me excited about the next stage of the game. Thanks for keeping us posted!

    1. I agree, the joints and the neck should almost be without lines. A real bear is very rounded and it's head is huge, almost the size of its shoulders, but for a cartoon's standpoint you can feel free to emphasize the head a little more. Also I think you should make the bear lower to the ground to make it more like a prowling hunter.

  9. move the torso down to where the top of the torso is almost even with the top of the head.
Glad to see your back and working on this project.
I know you have a lot of plans but it would be cool if Beth could have an alternate hair style too.

    1. Right now I prefer to focus into other features rather tan hairstyles...
Anyway, I'm not sure when I'd do it.

  10. Make the legs shorter, the head more aggressive and add a neck.
Here is a drawing of what I mean (also take a look at the differences in the body shading)
    http://abload.de/img/bearl4z4j.png

Besides I think beths gloves and pants would look much hotter if they were transparent.
If they are intendet to have a sado-maso-shop look then you should make them much darker and add more contrast.

    regards,

    1. Thanks for the drawing! It helps me a lot!
About transparent stuff, I don't like it so much...

  11. I agree to the lowering of the torso (this looks a bit like AT-AT), the bear has his joints on top of his body. Also the head might be slightly larger.

  12. So Yogi can't pick through Beth's picnic basket to find some goodies? Aw. :/
    Shorter legs.

  13. Ok guys... what do you think about the new version?

    1. Better but the head is still too round and the legs are too long, you're getting there though.

  14. 1) Now its feet too long. It is better to make something average between old and new variants.
    2) At bears slightly sticks out a forehead (sorry, didn't notice it on old option) that just and creates "gloomy" expression of a muzzle. It isn't critical, but will positively affect appearance of a bear.
    3) Ears should be turned a little, they too direct.

Body and eyes of a bear now optimum, it is better to leave so.
    MosKit; sorry for bad English

  15. All that needs fine tuning now I believe are the feet and ears as MosKit stated. Everything else looks great. I think the face itself is alright as it is.

By the way Hnyarly, have you gotten the time to read my email? Sorry if it was long lol.

  16. I agree-just work on the feet and ears and it'll look good.

  17. The fine point to explain on what it needs is hard to explain through text. On the other hand, propably my recommendation to check some other reference (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_bear for real life reference) could and up a bit too much of a side track, but I believe it worth it to mention it.

The hump on it's back toward it's head seems like to be more natural, as if it were the bear's scapula. (That much I can tell through text.)

  18. erm one big question about your game, err how ocme the brown wolf only spanws once in the game? i was testing various enemy encounter also it would be more player friendly if oyu had a guide of walk through for your game as in what should be the level range of your character in a given area. exp is a little on the low side and the enemies in the surrounding areas are quite a bit more dangerous.

well the bear is not bad but you should work on the bear face a bit more believe it or not bears have a dog like face, if you look at their faces carefully.a little bit more neck for that head, and it should be slanting downwards not upwards hence why the neck...

    1. The red wolf wasn't finished, therefore after fight it leaves from game as killed, irrespective of it won or lost.

Walktrought not required yet. Game is too short.
Personally I would place zones so:
      1) Glade (start location) (0+)
      3) Wizard's Wood (3+)
      2) Slimes' Cave (4+)
In the wood enemies are stronger, but from there it is simpler to recede for treatment, than from a cave.

      MosKit. Sorry for bad English

    2. As MosKit said, the red wolf was a testing version. That's why it disappears.

  19. Some more offers.
    1) The separate section for the user offers. It would allow to remove pressure from comments cection, and ideas (not necessarily mine) wouldn't be lost among discussion of game and simply flood.
    2) Considering, what now an Eye (sorry, forgot it's full name) immediately sell, maybe, it is worth making for the Elf trader a quest on collecting of different artifacts? Players would receive money for sale, experience for collecting (after all such things without protection don't lie), and would fill emptiness between story quets.
    3) Increase number of rats. It isn't enough of them, and they are too separated. Rats live and hunt packs! If you offended one rat, soon on you the whole legion will rush. Even if before you them didn't interest.
    4) Money shouldn't take a place in inventory, it is necessary to designate their quantity in a different way somehow.
    5) It is better to make quest items simply disappearing. The player is able to remember, what imems he took, and why; it not World of Warcraft, isn't a lot of them.

MosKit. Sorry for bad English, i never wrote so long text on English before. I really tried.

    1. 1) Maybe... I have to think about it.
      2) That's a good idea for a quest.
      3) Rats are fine now. The are in a low level zone so if I put too much rats, the game could be hard for beginner players.
      4) Maybe, but it's simpler for me to implement the way it is.
      5) Most of them are, like the mage's home key.

      Delete
    2. 3) Rats are very weak, and frankly stupid. They often attack the whole flock from one direction, succumbing to the first kick. This will not create serious problems. And the experience for them can be reduced in proportion to increase in numbers.
      4) Equipment is too limited to hold money at whole cell. While it is not lethal, items are not so many, but then it can be fatal, because things at least you can sell if the need arises, and the money not going anywhere.

    The beat.
Very fast beast on short distance (can make sprint).
For attack uses paws (with big claws) and teeth.
Can stands up on his hind legs.
In close combat can grab human (like wrestler, this 100% death).

  21. Well, I think it's almost finished.
Y redid a bit the ears, made some kind of "forehead" and resized the feet. Honestly, Hruma's version looks great, but I prefer the face I did. Anyway, I took some ideas from Hruma, such as fingers in the paws and tail.

Anyway, Hruma, are you working in any game project or something? I'd love having a look to your work.

I'll wait a couple of days for more opinions. Meanwhile, I'll be preparing the translation configuration for the game.

    1. Now the bear quite well looks, it is better not to make any more serious changes incidentally not to break fragile balance.

In what format there will be a language file? Probably, I would help with creation of the russian version (honestly, I read in English much better, than write). I am trained for the proofreader so at least with literacy problems won't be.

  22. As of right now the bear is perfect, it looks amazing! One thing left is to name it... Hmm how about Bill the Battle Bear?

Hnyarly any time you're ready to give your thoughts on my feedback please do so. If I get a response from you then I'll be able to know how to continue/edit my suggestions (keeping in mind the limitations being presented) and work with you from there. Thanks!
